The best way to go about is to observe all that's around you..without sticking to any single observation. Use all your six senses without the mind interfering, they are the window to the world around you as it is right NOW...do it and you'll instantly feel alive. I know it's hard to do but just BE and you'll be all right... but don't try too hard...small doses will help you more :-)

PS: It's impossible to think in the now because the thought process always functions through time.
Good luck!! :-)

To some degree it is okay to allow the mind to travel to the past. As well as the future. Why I say this? You never really know where you are headed if you never corret the past mistakes, or replay them, to know where to go to next. Then when you are always thinking about the future that should be a great thing as long as you are preparing to get there. You know the small steps that turn into giant leaps. In return it's always best to enjoy the present because nothing last forever.

Well, from personal experience... I'd have to say that to keep your mind in the present, you have to constantly keep your mind active. Changing your daily routine up every once in a while, constantly learning, living more in the moment... Those help you keep your mind in the present. Basically, keep on moving.

When you don't do much and let your mind linger, that's when memories start coming up and you get stuck in the past.

Not an easy task as I am still in the '60's and have not matured much either. But most men are not mature at any age ..Especially when it comes to relationships and or marriages.
Women have a more realistic grip on reality as they end up the caregivers most of the time and they could not function living in a fantasy world as most men do...that life and I have been a male for a long time..sorry its the best i got,,i know it probably won't help but that's just my male ego...good luck

Keep watching your clock never, ever, stop watching it go round and round! Count the seconds one after another, and say Mississippi after each one. That should do it. Whatever you do, don't watch Sports Center more then once in a day; they replay that a few times and that could throw you off pretty bad.

"Dreaming for Future" and "Thinking about Past" are two different aspect of life. They have +ves and -ves, though both are harmless. Fact is thinking about "Past" help in taking a decision(in present), as simple as lesson learnt. Thinking about future will motivate you to improve your present, to strive to get it.
Living in both will lead to waste of time. They are powerful tools to shape future, to be used today. So you need to lear how to use them and not how to prevent them from NOT using....
