Voodoo does exist, it is a religion and not used as you see it in the movies. Yes you can put curses on other people but only if they believe in the Voodoo religion. Witchcraft is also a relition and they can put curses on people also. Most of the 'palaver' the dressing up, blood letting, dancing, is all to work themselves up into a frenzie (or a state of spiritual awareness) where the 'priests' can make auto suggestions to them. It is like mass hypnosis, yet people can stand on the sideline and watch the happenings without becoming involved or affected. To them it is like watching a show but without the belief they remain unaffected.

Voodoo is a real religion originating in Africa, although not readily acceptecd by much of the more well known religions like Catholisicm, and it has a lot of traditions in its history such as curses, back magick to name a few. Mostly, these are true, but what you hear from stories, they are exagerated. It is much like Paganism in the way of beliefs and some of the customs, but with all religions, it has its differences.

Yes it exists and is very much practised in Haiti and New Orleans/Louisiana. It is a religion with many followers but has over the years become famous for the wrong reasons, yes curses etc do occur but it is more a religion revolving around the celebration of life & death.People (usually Catholics & Christians) have given it a bad name due to their lack of understanding and failure to accept other 'different' religions,it has been associated with the occult but this is a misconception and attempt by the church to discredit it.

I'm sure voodoo does exist, although I very much doubt that you can put curses on other people.

Yes it not only exists, it thrives. There are Vodun communities in Haiti, West Africa and in the USA. In Africa it is estimated that 30 million people practise Vodun. In Benin, it is the main religion with 80% of its people practising Vodun. Thanks to the slave trade and subsequent immigration, Vodun has spread across world. There are entire shops devoted to the sale of powders, oils and spells that aim to do anything from attracting love and wealth to getting revenge. Curses are more commonly associated with vodun because many modern practitioners do not take the cosmological beliefs of the original religion on board. In fact, cursing others is part of most cultures magical heritage. The Museum of Witchcraft and Black Magic in Boscastle has numerous examples of curse dolls and ill-wishes from the UK. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence for modern cursing. In some parts of Africa, people are so scared of being cursed that they murder children to provide stronger charms of protection. In the belief system of most modern pagans, cursing is forbidden. It is considered an act of bad karma, likely to attract misery for the curser as well as the victim. However, this doesn't stop those who do not accept this moral framework from buying curses from the disreputable or making one themselves.

Yes. Actually spaeking these kind of actitivites come under black magic. If you take the hindu mythology, one of the vedas (adarvana veda) talks about this.
Voodoo, pilli and suniyam are some of these types through which you can use negetive energy or power to deprive, harm and control others from something. Like you said you can force one to watch video, make him away from eating food etc.
If you would like to know these things just visit this site.
