I've seen it go both ways. I think they comment on different topics.

(a) Which would you consider yourself?
(b) What do you think?

Sirdoctorfine, what about the Hilary questions though?

I don't think that Yahoo! is slanted either way itself. It's the members that make it what it is. So what are the members?

I am neither a liberal nor a conservative. I am a moderate.
I've been here for some time and noticed a lot of new people seem to start out leaning a bit to the left when they first arrive. But, after some time and exchange they most often end up leaning to the right. The so called liberals on this forum always exposed themselves as a bit hypocritical. Take the abortion/death penalty issue as example.
In the end of that argument liberals advocate killing of the innocent, the unborn. Conservatives, on the other hand, advocate killing the guilty, convicted criminals.
Conservatives are very good at expressing pragmatic viewpoints. Whereas liberals resort to insults, name calling, and the ultimate: reporting to Yahoo to get the conservative deleted.
As I said, I am a moderate. I am equally argumentative with a social conservative as I am with a neoliberal. Almost always, the neoliberal will report me to Yahoo if I present a view that disclaims their own.

(a)Both actually-
Liberals=a long proud political school of thought that holds LIBERTY as the primary objective. It believes in Free Markets, Free Expression, accountability of establishments, and Free Thought!
Conservatives=a long proud political tradition that holds conserving ideas and institutions that have a record of working and succeeding instead of radical change is the best way to live.
These two descriptions fit most sane people I know! Myself included.
It's a false division!
(b)It depends on the topic you ask and the way the question is phrased. The feeling in the air is definitely liberal these days, not just on Y!A? In 2003, I'd imagine it to be the opposite.

More liberals
conservative/independent
I think both liberals and conservatives need to quit hating and try to start working on the problems this great nation faces. I am sick to death of the Bush bashing and I am real tired of the name calling that goes on. Maybe all of us should grow up and come to some conclusions and then we could present a united front to the politicians. Wouldn't that just frost their asses if we solved the problems that we have been paying them to solve? We could do it there are enough of us to work some of these problems out.

First of all, I was not born in the USA, but was naturalised an lived there most of my life. I always considered myself a non-partisan conservative (far enough to agree with most of what Rush Limbaugh was selling). Now for the past 10 years I am in other countries, still conservative, but wish to caution you.......

You are not addressing the US conservatives/liberals - you are addressing the whole world - and the concept of liberal/conservative changes from country to country.
Hope this answers your question...

I think there is a pretty even distribution of both. There are people on both sides of the issues who provide very relevant and thought provoking commentary. However, the vast majority on both sides seem to be more interested in attacking their opponents than engaging in any meaningful debate on issues. This makes it difficult to really quantify how many are present in each group. What I look for is people who are trying to make valid points without resorting to the lowest common denominator to do so. We need both sides because political commentary and varying opinion are necessary for democracy to properly flourish.

I am a conservative independent

I agree with sirdoctor, I have reason to believe that the Republicans have a data base working this site. Look at Hillary Clinton's answer page with the spamming. The politics page is also spammed daily by the same person, people are violated for nothing while abusive questions remain on the question board. You can research this through Google and Firefox, they both have blogs and proof of this situation.

Yeah, I agree with Bryan, very well said.
Although I think it can be dangerous to put labels on people I would consider myself a moderate independent

I don't fit neatly into one category or the other. I am a realist whose position on every issue is based on ethics and common sense.
