Go to the library...i find a lot of people who are in the same situation...i spend an hour or two on the free computer and also read the free papers and magazines...we have DVD VHS and books on tape galore..all free..the even have lectures on current topics
also the YMCA has a special rate for people in your situation..some of the exercises you still could do to build your upper body strength..pool? whirlpool. sauna..i don't know if you have a cast but check it out for the other stuff...you can always donate your time to charities who might need your services..some even pay some money to help them do different tasks.

Some suggestions :
Free museums
Go for a coffee and take a newspaper to do a crossword
Join an afternoon class doing something you like...local borough...you may get it free or very reduced.
Think of a hobby you might want to do, model kits etc.
Best thing is to make sure you get out of the house each day for a couple of hours...then home won't seem so boring.
It IS hard...I know...I've been in this predicament myself.
Best wishes

Do you like reading? Get someone to join a library for you and bring round some books - most libraries are free. If not, you're hands are still working...

You could look out the window and count the number of people not wearing seat belts in their cars (passengers and drivers) and then write a letter to your MP about your findings.
Get well soon

watch some favourite movies on your PC, listen to some music that you like while you read your favourite novel, find some friends who have time to engage in some msn-chat with you even if they may be working, create a blog and write it out of your system, play your favourite PC games, send sms-es to your friends to ask about them, etc.
then take a nap when you are worn out, and you should feel better afterwards. have a speedy recovery ! :)
