Ew, God no, I absolutely can't stand them. They just keep repeating the same nonsense over and over again. I mean hello, get some other lyric writers, and a BASE player.

I think the success of their new cd could be partially explained by politics, by the fact that the president is mucho more disliked than he was when the whole controversy happened. However, I don't think the songs are mediocre. Some of them are a little boring, but some of them are actually quite good, like Taking the long way, or Not ready to make nice. I think it can be seen as a brave thing to do, to write a song about what happened a couple of years ago, and to say that they have absolutely no regrets of what they said, and that they are still angry. Moreover, the music in Not ready to make nice is good. I agree with the fact that maybe they didn't deserve all of the grammys they won, but they sure know how to make a comeback.

I used to love the Dixie Chicks but now I can't stand them. The reason that you haven't heard their songs on the radio is that stations have been refusing to play their CD (at least here in Tennessee - country music capital). When someone announces to the whole world that they are basically ashamed to be an American it doesn't sit well with people. I don't think they should have won the grammy's - it just gives them the right to say "Ha, we won in spite of everything" "We can say whatever we want and people will like us" I don't like them and will never buy another one of their CDs

Matt ... Your observations are very keen. Part of what you're observing is what I call "crowd mentality," which simply means that if someone they admire mentions something positive about The Chicks (whether it's true or not), some people who want to agree simply to be part of the crowd will agree.
You see a lot of this when it comes to the political discussions just about everywhere including here in Yahoo Answers. Someone will say something negative about the President or about his political opponents. But when you ask them to explain even one thing they disagree with and why, they have no answer. This indicates to me that they have not thought-out how they feel; they simply saw someone say this, that, or another thing, and they simply agree without giving any thought to the reason.
This even applies to people who act violently. Do you remember the video that was circulating a couple of weeks ago that showed several teenage girls beating on another girl from their neighborhood? Or there was even a video of some teens or young adults who had beaten some homeless people they came upon ... and they made a video of it.
When these teens were caught and asked why they did these things, they had no answer other than something to the effect that they weren't thinking and they just did it because their friends were doing it.
So, to summarize, Matt, you just keep on thinking and even when your view seems to be in the minority, if you know in your heart that you've thought it out and you can explain your reasons for feeling as you do, then "stick to your guns."
Good luck, Matt, and thanks for a nicely put message.

I find this whole controversy upsetting. If there's one genre of music that's about brotherhood and good times it's bluegrass. I've loved the music for many years and found the Chicks to be a fun and refreshing addition. Natalie made a remark about having doubts about the war - I don't think it was planned or thought out, and many more people since have agreed - and it's turned into a circus. I still love their music (harmonies especially on this last one) and I, and I'm sure they, would rather be at an outdoor festival enjoying bluegrass in the sun.

The Dixie Chicks won SO many Grammys this year for one reason. The music industry is full of Bush hating liberals that just want to stick it to him by rewarding a mediocre band that hates Bush. This is also the reason Al Gore will win the OSCAR for his big lie.

Really I dont like the Dixie Chicks and dont believe they should have won all those Grammy's. They openly criticized the President and the War in Iraq. Personally I wish celebs would just shut their mouths on things that are happening in the world, and just do whatever the world pays them to do.

great question asked. the dixie chicks are very average and nothing special at all. as well as there little stunt at george bush was nothing special either but i guessed they played it well. here is my question how do the grammy's pick shitty winners every year for music its awful. dixie chicks win a grammy for **** work guess is no awards for real talent just a popularity contest. i would say best cd this year was
muse: black holes and revelations
totally got over lucked so fu** the dixie chicks they are not special and dont deserve the spotlight.

The American People did NOT have anything to do with the Grammy being given to the Dixie Chicks. The Grammys Presisent is a known Liberal and he made sure to get a message across...which he failed miserably at since most Americans have a brain and know it was all staged.

I haven't heard the CD either but I agree, perhaps your wrong. They being the first to speak out against Bush I'm sure helps quite a lot.
