A while ago I asked a dumb question on this website and got chewed out for it but I laughed because they were correct. Were am I going with this? here in California I hear that they are trying to take away recess and games like flag football and dodge ball because it lowers childrens self esteem. I believe thats obserd because if these children don't learn the important value of winning and LOSING and how to take a verbal beating from other people without flipping out then how will they get jobs as adults and how will they live lives as Human beings not knowing these important values? please tell me your opinion.

Not recess, because no one could be able to focus on lessons for 8 hours a day, five days a week without some kind of a break between periods. Because of the students needing to pay attention for all that time, take notes and not have a chance to relax their minds, it would be more destructive to their learning curve, and make them lose interest in wanting to attend school right until graduation.

With dodge ball, I think while it can have low self esteem, but it is mostly about a childs look on the game and what their home life and school life is like as well. If a parent is pushy or keeps telling them that losing is not an option, of course they would not try too hard to win at everything and cause a lot of mistakes making them lose the game. It's more a matter of forgetting about winning and losing and just enjoying the game, any game they play.

How will they even survive to a job seeking age if they're getitng clinically obese thorugh lack of excercise?

I agree this is a stupid idea. Humans compete, we always have. You're denying children the chance to learn a sport? Good luck in Olympic bids in the future. At the end of the day these things are games and anyone taking them too seriously has bigger issues than whether they won or lost.
