Hubble's deep impact mission (HDIM) has captured a snap shot of a galaxy cluster, believed to have about 10,000 galaxies in a photo 10 times lesser in size of the full moon, which is believed to have located about 13-14 billion light years away. Not only this, we have learned that we have about 400 billion galaxies in the visible universe. The Hubble mission is near to the end. We are about to expand our vision, possibly with VLDM (very large diameter mirror), which is being worked out to be flown in to the space. Our earth is a tiny piece, which is merely visible suppose some intelligent life from distant galaxy finds our milky way, with amazing spiral structure. It would be very difficult to find the earth on the Orion arm. It appears that we have neighbors in the universe, but time and space factor prevents us being together. I have the only wish if humans would find the new life in the universe before I die. It would be the great achievement.

Is there a question here?
Anyone who has an open mind and done even the minutest bit of reading on the subject will accept the undeniable fact that for us to be the ONLY life in this VAST galaxy would be the height of hubris and arrogance.
I would love to be here too when we get a visitor from afar. Rock the foundations of alot of religions I bet.

It's all pretty damn incredible and beautiful.

The basis for a new spirituality if we would only pause to consider.

I honestly think we are 10 years from confirmation of life on Mars.... but suspect it will be transplanted Earth life (panspemia)... or that Earth is transplanted Mars life. A second genesis I believe awaits our discovery on Europa and Enceladus, 20 years away.

CONTACT (with another intelligent species) I hope I see in my lifetime.... I say 50/50 in the next 40 years, and I'm hoping I'm good for 40 more...

I'm afraid that's not likely to happen.

Finding life in the Universe is an incredibly important mission but I don't think we'll make much headway for a couple of centuries.

Our best bet would be reactivating various SETI like projects to listen out for signals from another intelligent species. Receipt of a genuine message would change the world like nothing else.

If there was a question, then I'd say that it probably would not happen, however, there probably is life out there. About Barbara's bit, I would like to add that aliens probably would not want to be friends with us, especially since we have never successfully coexisted with any form of life. We kill bacteria, hunt deer, fish for fish, shoot tigers, wrestle with snakes, and have successfully killed 22% of the total polar bear population because our global warming skills are a bit too good and have melted all the polar ice. Nice job, humans. That's why I think it is ironic that we try to make friends with those faraway neighbors. We can't even live amongst ourselves! Look at the US, for example. It's in war with Iraq and its not exactly "friendly" with Iran, who is busy making atom bombs to blow up Earth.

We have. They are already here.

You do not see the aliens among us. They hide their differences beneath clothing and other forms of concealment. They do not want to be found out. To be found out would hinder their good work on this planet. It would also end up with them all being rounded up and possibly killed.

They are here to try to help us battle the evil on this planet and cannot do it from a jail. Their ways of travel are far beyond those of mankind but they do not help, that is humanity's journey. But, space is full of portals and storms not unlike the seasonal storms of earth. With great skill, transportation from one galaxy can be a matter of weeks, not centuries.

Most of them live in family clusters on the planet and are employed in highly placed positions to assist humankind in the current struggle we are in. They consist of doctors, lawyers, scientists, educators, politicians. You would be surprised to know how many of them you probably know in your own life.

Meanwhile, hints to their just being on the planet are everywhere. Think of the crop circles. Think of their reoccurring in native mythologies time and time again. They will not start to show themselves for a few years yet when several of them will be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for some scientific break through. Even so, paranoid mankind will treat them poorly, with suspicion and cruelty, just as they did at Roswell.
