I remember pounds shillings and pence too, and that was a shopkeepers' heaven to rob the 'hard of maths'.

I don't feel strongly either way about pound or euro - it's only a medium of exchange and I'll still be just as English spending euros.

However, if it puts out of business those thieving bastards in bureaux de change who rob me blind everytime I have to change pounds to euros and vice versa, that can't be a bad thing, can it?

I want the Euro - but I don't think the results would be very good.

I friend of mine comes from the Republic of Ireland and remembers just how much prices went up by after the introduction fo the Euro - last time she went home she paid 26 Euros for a round of 4 drinks in a pub.

Sterling is so strong at the moment it would be a bad move to get rid of it, but it does also mean that our exports are not doing well. The Euro would put us on a more even keel with the rest of Europe.

It would be simpler if we ditched the pound in favour of the Euro, but I don't understand the implications of high finance so I can only comment that for me as an individual, it really makes no odds but I don't fancy a dual currency

In reading all the answers you got I choose to be the contrarian. Having the euro would make it so much easier to conduct business and travel on continental Europe. The french and germans don't miss their respective currencies and neither will the english after a few years. It will never happen of course, but I don't mind playing devils advocate once in a while.

Keep the £. There is no good reason at present to change. Any change would be costly and result in confusion. It would be far better to keep our own currency, but to use the euro as travellers or 'interstate' money.

there is so lots greater to it than basically calling our distant places money via yet another call. Introducing the Euro would propose that unelected foreigners would administration how we spend our money. He who holds the handbag strings holds the skill. i think of i visit scream if yet another individual needs to undertake the Euro via fact then they does no longer could flow to the Bureau de exchange in the previous happening holiday. There incredibly is so lots greater to it than basically that. i beg you in finding out approximately it. Reference your assertion approximately Mark being a good distant places money - precisely! look at what a state Germany has been in via fact it accompanied the Euro. I truthfully have spoken to French, German and Spanish human beings provided that they accompanied the Euro and that all of them hated it. expenditures had risen extremely. And all those idiots who think of i do no longer p.c. the Euro via fact it does no longer have the Queen's photograph on - for goodness sake. You frighten me. If we modify to the Euro we'd provide away administration of our funds. it is have been given no longer something to do with the photograph of the Queen.

Go for the Euro. The ostrich mentality must cease.

Britain is only trying to box a mountain by holding on to the Pound Sterling.

The monster raving loony party was in favour of Europe ditching the Euro and joining the Pound.
The loony party came up with some , at the time, extreme ideas.
Years later, other party's put these ideas in their own manifestos.

Keep the Pound and ditch Europe.
