Daedalus and Icarus

Daedalus: in Greek mythology, a craftsman and inventor who built a labyrinth on the island of Crete to house a half-bull, half-man monster (Minotaur). He made wings so that he could escape from Crete with his son (Icarus), but his son perished during the flight.

Icarus: in Greek mythology, the son of Daedalus, who drowned in the sea while attempting to escape from Crete after the sun melted his wings of wax and feathers.

Icarus - he was trapped on an prison island. So his father Daedalus collected birds feathers and created two sets of beautiful wings attaching the feathers with beeswax. Daedalus taught Icarus how to fly and finally when Icarus was ready warned him not to fly too close to the sea for his wings would get damp, and not to fly too close to the sun for the beeswax would melt and he would surely fall to his death. Daedalus kissed his son goodbye and they flew to Italy.
On their way Icarus got cocky and wanted to touch the sun so he flew higher and higher against his fathers orders and as his father had said his wings began to melt and break down and he fell into the ocean and died.
His father buried him and made a temple to the god apollo, leaving his wings as a memorial.

Moral of the Story: Flying should be left to the Gods.
