Yeah but having a few different views about certian subjects are more interesting than looking it up in Wikipedia.

I know where you're coming from though.

I would say more like 95%. I think people post on here for many reasons.
1. The social aspect. They get to "interact" with other people whenever they want.
2. They really ARE too dim to think about looking up the answer on their own.
3. They like the attention.
4. They are bored.

Probably a few more reasons, but you get the idea. Personally, I usually ask questions that cannot be answered by a search engine. As for the answering...well...it's just fun sometimes. If you really can help someone it feels good. Or if someone just has a goofy question...it may make you crack a smile. OR, you may just be bored.... I don't know why but ever since I've joined I find this site semi-addictive. :)

No search engines are only of use if you know what you are looking for and some people dont know what they are looking for let alone the questions where there is insufficient information and getting an answer is based on logic and practical experience of those responding.

No, because not 99% of them are general knowledge. I'd bet it's a lot fewer than people think - 60% maybe.

But I think I see the point you're REALLY making - it probably IS about 99%.

Probably, but it's not as much fun. We all need to communicate more. If Saddam & George Sr had just gone to a beautiful beach and smoked a bowl and talked, thousands of lives and a gazzillion dollars would have been saved.
Peace,
Laurie

more like 85%, but why rely on the search engine, if its something you know just answer it, and if it is something you don't know just make a guess!
