Marmite is good for you. It's a made out of yeast extract, a by-product of beer brewing. This spread is a rich source of the vitamin B complex.
Marmite is traditionally eaten as a savoury spread on bread, toast, and savoury biscuits. Due to its concentrated taste it should be spread thinly with butter or margarine.
I use it not just on toast but when I cook yellow peas, mush it, add crushed garlic and a little bit of oil, mix it well. After that I add marmite instead of salt in my plate. Eat it with fresh vegetable salad.
In Sri Lanka it is dissolved in boiling water and some lime juice and a fried, sliced onion is added, allegedly an excellent pick-me-up drink for recovering from a hangover. I didn't like the taste of it though. :)
I think because of it's strong taste people love it or hate it. :)

Is marmite a band or a song or something? The only marmite that I know of is that black English stuff you put on toast that isnt too good compared to Vegemite- now thats stuff is only thing that has toast begging for more.

Goooood. So good. With anything. Toast, crumpets, cheese and marmite toasties, in chillis and pies. I love it. Have it every single day.

It's horrible as a spread.....! Put it in gravy to go with your Sunday roast, then it's the best.
