But don't post any photos of themselves that are more recent?
Sooner or later, if they find someone who wants to meet them will only be disapointed when they meet the real version in person along with more milage and wear and tear, if at all their original hair and not a wig.

it isn't fair.

Both men and women are guilty of posting "younger" photos of themselves with their personal profiles and yes, things usually turn out badly when they show up for a date 10 years older, 20 pounds heavier and with less hair than their online photo.

People do this because they are insecure about their looks--period. Our society glorifies youth and once someone no longer looks "young" (that means different things to different people), people can believe they're no longer attractive. That may not be true--there are many attractive people over the age of 40, including many TV and movie stars (look at the cast of "Desperate Housewives")--but people lose confidence in themselves and the way they look. So they post the younger picture, thinking they'll get more and better responses and not thinking about what will happen when they actually meet someone face-to-face.

You're right, it's not fair, but it does happen. If it happens to you and your date shows up looking much older than their photo, you have two options: 1) Politely explain that you were expecting someone younger and more similar to the online photo and since they do not look like the person they claimed to be, you do not feel comfortable staying for the date. (After all, if they lied about that, what else did they lie about?) OR 2) Stay for the date and see if you have anything else in common with this person other than simple physical attraction. Often people who were not attracted to each other at first become attracted to each other over time because of their common interests.

The choice is yours. Good luck!

Men are guilty of this as well. I don't know why people do that. Some people have a hangup about being recognized. This site is supposed to be anonymous. I figure that being just another face in the crowd is anonymous enough. It's not like our addresses are displayed. Some people feel the need to hide behind avatars. Others hide behind scenery or other cartoon characters.

I agree it's not fair, but you could also ask why people post "good" photos of themselves, with makeup on, hair done, as opposed to what we ususually look like most days! Everyone just wants to present their best self I guess, men too!

they want to look good, who said life was fair? If you are young and pretty, why would the actions of an older woman concern you
