The heat cannot be turned down and runs in the 80's. In the summer, it is intolerable. There are no vents and no windows. One door to an interior room without the same. A free-standing airconditioner was brought to the office, but the hose had to be run out the door, through the adjacent room to a hallway. Environmental services said "No". Air conditioning is too expensive. Do you have experience to give that would solve my air-quality and heat problem?

The upper escalon all have air conditioning so no one is too concerned. This is a hospital no less. I asked Labor & Industry if there were any governing rules on how hot is too hot to work in an office. I was told it is hard to prove there is a problem.

Block the air supply, as suggested, or cover the radiator with quilt or other insulation. Document the heat with a simple air conditioning probe thermometer so you can also measure the heat inside the computers and other equipment to see if they are running too hot. Wear light clothing and get fans.
Unfortunately, while 80's may seem uncomfortable, you are unlikely to discover much to support "intolerable" unless you get a lot warmer - like over 90.

I would take the vent off and put some plastic around it that looks decent and not noticeable and put the vent cover back on. No more heat and what escapes would probably be sufficient.

Try one of those tower fans that turn...they usually help keep my room cool...Or...Try to keep the lights and other extra electronics off as much as possible...if it is too dark with all the lights off maybe use just a desk lamp.
