I am great cricket fan but I do agree it is now amounting to a waste bcos we are being led to believe it is genuine but what happens behind the scene who knows. Moreover, we miss out on important news items on TV when cricket match is telecast. It is also true that disputes relating to cricket are solved faster at the cost of other urgent matters. The selection or non selection of particular players is also discussed in Parliament. The followers of other sports and games must be ruing the importance given to cricket. Cricket in India is becoming a religion of late

Sports means what? If you are able to answer this query you would find the answer for your question.
It is pure entertainment for those who love the game. Spending time before the TV set is worth investing in. The aberrations like match-fixing are a part and parcel of every sports, be it footbal or any other game.
For nation building one has to be a patriot at the core and not necessarily you have to shun watching or playing cricket (Or any sports).
