do you agree? There is a lot of opposition to supermarkets receiving planning permission to extend or to build on new ground, is this really such a bad thing?

Or, do you think like me, no-one will force people to shop there so let the public vote with their feet. I know where I prefer to shop when given the choice between independent shops and supermarkets.

I shop at 3 Big supermarkets and one independent , not one supermarket meets my needs , especially on a budget.
I find the Fruit and Veg. and deli section at an independent always has the best deals. I get my bread from an outlet so basically money and quality is an issue.
As for those BIG Supermarkets taking over , I don't care for them that much, they get 5%-10% of my Business.
They can build wherever they want with no issues.

supermarkets are horribly depressing places, i used to like the old shops were you got to know the owners, I don't know any of the supermarket staff personally.

also the money went back into the local pot when you shopped locally, instead of to some far off shareholders who don't give a damn for your town & are only interested in ££££££.

and they force you to buy only what they want to sell, by driving out competition they actually reduce your choice of what you can buy.

Supermarkets are great. I bet the people complaining don't have children to feed, clothe etc. I mostly by the "value" stuff which is lot cheaper than your local convenience store!!!
