I was thinking about attending this school. However I have this funny little feeling that there full of it. I think they may just want my money. I did a little background check and I found both good and bad thing about them. I want to get a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. I'm worried that I will waste 43 months of my time earning the degree. It will cost me thousands of dollar that I will have to pay back. I have feeling that nobody will hire me if once they know I received my degree via Internet from the University of Phoenix. I want to be a probation officer. If anyone is a probation officer and received there degree on line. Please let me know. If anyone received a degree or attended the University of Phoenix please tell me about your experience.

You are right to feel uncomfortable about this school, and in fact, ANY online, for-profit school.

There was a very good article about the University of Phoenix in the New York TImes sunday paper for Feb 11, 2007. You should DEFINITELY and I mean DEFINITELY read this article before you send one dollar to U of P.

Check it out. You will be glad you did!!!!

Josie826 is correct. One reason Phoenix takes hits from a minority of individuals is because they simply do not know better, flunked out of Phoenix, or were rejected by Phoenix. Certainly, their grammar is not up to the standard expected of Phoenix students.

The University of Phoenix is a for-profit school. They do have actual headquarters and buildings in the Phoenix area. They offer a legitimate education in many fields, and many people have successfully attained a degree from the institution. However, in my opinion, the degree would have a lower respect value, the order of quality being: prestigious University (Harvard, Yale, etc)>>state university>>online university>>correspondence school>>Joe's diploma mill>>buy a degree in the classifieds. You will get a legitimate degree, but, of course, you have to remember what school it is issued from. I am not sure a bachelor's degree, for example, from the University of Phoenix would be transferable to a regular University in pursuit of a master's or PhD degree. Perhaps others will know this.

The University of Phoenix is one of the better online schools. It is an accredited school and you should have no problem getting a job with their diploma.
