The more I read the unhappy questions of people who are tossing up whether to leave their marriage or not, even after only 3 or 4 years, makes me believe, there are not a lot of advantages and makes me wonder why people really do get married.in the first p[lace....are they so silly as to ignore the statistics, not to realise that the power of love, sometimes can be a misconception. Considering the statistics for divorce is so high, you would think people woudl give the idea of marriage a lot more thought than they do. I try to hold mysel;f back, but it seems we are still living in the 19th Centrury where marriage is concerned....We have moved forward with the equality of women in the work force, but unfortunately the new age way of thinking doesnt seem to extend to marriage. Unfortunately too many people hang on to the age old concept that when we marry we become one....which really intimates we own the other person. Until we can understand what it is to be trully equal, then marriage and its expectations will always stay in the dark ages. Religion is the reason we hang onto old age concepts. Maybe if the marriage vows changed from one of ownership to equality, a lot more marriages would be happy. Unfortunately, when you put two individuals who were raised in a modern society, but expected to behave the way a wife/husband should act, as determined by religion, then marriages will continue to break down. Change the expectations of marriage, and you will automatically see a big decrease in divorce.

The advantage of being married is you solemnize or formarlize your bonding of love with your partner through marriage in the eyes of the family, community, country and the Supreme Divine Being and have all the rights and privileges of calling the conjugal partner, my spouse.
Biologically, socially and legally you have the license to have sex with your married spouse and be exclusive only to both of you.
Real, Personal, Movable, Immovable, Tangible and Intangible properties of each partner are joined together as common or conjugal property when they are brought to marriage. In marriage, what ever fruits or income of such properties are owned equally and exclusively by both spouses. In being married you not only enjoy happiness but share also the sadness, in sickness and in health, richness and in poor both of you married spouses share together. The real essence is the mutual trust and love to each other written down and agreed upon formally.
Lastly, the offsprings or children of both couples in marriage are called legitimate children. These children and each of them have the legal right to a 100% right of inheritance of property shares.
In marriage, you may not alway be happy but you can be always at peace.

Fifty percent of all marital assets when you divorce LOL...well when you're married and a spouse dies the other spouse get's everything that was his. When you're not married and your parnter dies what they leave behind goes to their blood relatives or to the state. You're left out in the cold, even if you spent YEARS with your partner loving and supporting them.
Some health insurances will not cover non-married dependants. So if you're partner doesn't have medical insurance and gets ill or is in need of extensive medical care someone is going to have to pay the bill.

To me. I love being married than single. I am married, because I love my husband and he loves me back. Having a family is great. Up and down, of course, but we work it through. We are not perfect but we are happy. Having someone to care and care for you back is wonderful. We got married because we wanted being married, there is no gives and takes.
