If you haven't been convicted, it will not be on your record. It is an illegal question for them to ask "Have you ever been arrested?" The only way they can ask is "Have you ever been convicted of a crime?" And you haven't.

Hi,

If you haven't got a conviction your reputation should still be safe. The only exception would be if the background check was being done because you were applying for a position within the police service, or other high-security company.

If the charges are eventually dropped you should have no further cause to worry about any background check.

Good Luck

Yes, it will always be there...even if the charges are dropped. The only way you could get it expunged (then there are not guarantees it will 'never' show up is if does not deal with rape, incest or any bodily evils. Felonies are different...and after 7 years you can file for the expungement.

wont be on the record until conviction....unless the background check is for something deep like an anti-terrorism post in Homeland Security or something with the State Dept..they come to your friends houses then...you'll be caught for sure
