your chances of finding one in a scrap yard which is programed the same as the one you've got is very slim..why do you need 2? cant you change the battery in the one you've got? try Rover again, they should be open.

I have a Range Rover 4.2, they are good cars and trucks.

and the only way you can do it is to bring it to a place that has a rover programming computer. Most independent shops won't have one, its mainly a dealer issue.

Secondly Land Rover doesn't hand out these computers to anyone because otherwise people could easily buy one and start stealing Rovers really easily.

My suggestion: Go online to a Rover dealer and try ordering one there if you cant wait for the dealer to help you.

Any identical key that fits will not work with your vehicle. The original keys are programmed to the control box in your car. Rover will clone a new key if you prove you own the car. A laptop is used to copy the info from your car's control box to a cloned key. A main dealer is expensive.
Recently I was quoted £550 for a new box and handset/keys. I decided to go ex-dealer and the price was much cheaper.
If you live near B'ham you could contact 'Remote Key Alarms' 0121 308 0819 and get the job done at a reasonable price. Proof of car ownership is needed. Supplies spare keys etc.

Go to a garage that used to be a rover dealer and ask. They can order the fob and will probably still have the equipment to program it in.

What year is the vehicle / how old is the key fob? have you replaced the battery? and were there any symtoms such as weak signal/response compared to the past?
