Whilst walking on the beach yesterday- my daughter decided that the dog, my son and I should be put in 'daft group'. She and my husband, she decided, would be in 'clever group'. We were having a laugh about this when she slipped and I managed to catch her before she hit a rock. I was immediately promoted to 'kind, sensible mum' group.
Elated, I then threw a stick for the dog to fetch and it nearly hit a lady on the head. I had immediate demotion to 'daft group'- where I now languish.
What can it all mean? Will I ever get promotion back up to 'kind, responsible mum' group?

It's better to put yourself in the 'give me lip, get a slap' group.

Just give it time. I know a lot of girls who did this when they were young, even within my own family. I think that it's just a phase they go through. I sold my old Developmental Psychology book, but I'm pretty sure that there was something in there about it. How old is she? It's not uncommon for a little girl to go through a phase in early childhood where she sticks a little closer to Daddy for awhile. Just keep being there for her, and she'll realize in time that you're a kind, sensible mum after all.

Better create a new group "daft, kind and funloving mum" group and you will be the only member!
