I am going on Holiday in June with my 2 year old son and have to get a taxi transfer from the airport to the hotel. I am not sure whether he has to be in a child seat and if so are we expected to take one or do they provide for this out there.

Yes, you absolutely should take your child's seat with you. Regardless of the laws in Florida, the laws of physics do not change when you cross a state line. A two year old should be in a car seat with a 5 point harness both in the car and on a plane.

From a safety standpoint, your child is a great risk to himself and others on a plane if he is not in his safety seat. In case of turbulence he becomes a potentially deadly projectile. Children have died and been seriously injured because they were not buckled.

You will find the trip more pleasant as well, because chasing a toddler on a plane is not something you really want to do, and his safety seat is familiar to him.

Yes, he will need to be in a car seat. You can bring your own, just check it with your luggage at the airport. OR, call the hotel you are going to be staying at, and inquire if they have a rental or any other options.

Taking your own will probably end up being the best bet, though.

Have a great vacation!!

If the child is 5 years of age or younger a crash-tested, federally approved child restraint device. For children aged through 3 years, such restraint device must be a separate carrier or a vehicle manufacturer's integrated child seat. For children aged 4 through 5 years, a separate carrier, an integrated child seat, or a seat belt may be used.

They probably won't have one available.

You should bring your son's seat and just have him sit on it in the plane. He'll ride better in it, anyway.

Enjoy your trip!
