Gmail is free to register to. Just go to www.google.co.uk and click on the link where it says:
"Free email with 2.8GB storage and less spam. Try Google Mail (BETA)."
This is just under the search box.

u need to get an invitation from somebody who already has gmail account.

Some with gmail has to INVITE YOU to join...it's theeir way of cutting down on potential spammers.
