The people who achieve success through their efforts do so because they are living their destiny. People who struggle are on the wrong path. They are denying their true destiny. When you're on the right path, things fall into place. All the effort in the world won't help you if you're doing the wrong thing for you. The universe gives you signs when you're on the wrong or the right track. Just look for the signs. You know in your heart what your dreams are. Take the steps to make them happen & don't give up. Don't compare to other people either. We're all different. Sometimes it seems like things come easier to other people. It's not so. Everyone has their struggles. Some are just better at hiding it. Some of the most "successful" people in the world on the surface are actually stressed & miserable underneath it all. You just never know. Live for you. Make a wish, then put effort behind it. Then you will achieve your destiny.

Of course EFFORT.
Destiny is not a proven matter. You may believe in it but cannot say that there is certainly something called destiny (if you firmly follow a religion withought giving your brain a chance, the case can be different). So how can you put emphasis on an uncertain thing?
If destiny was certain you wouldn't have to bother much about your future. But tell me will you fully rely on destiny and quit working or trying to chage for the better? I bet you won't or if you do you will be drag a miserable life (I cann't see the future but I can tell it easily).
Suppose some people are standing somewhere and you throw a stone up in the air. What can happen? The stone will come down and fall either on the ground or on someone. Can you say that the stone was destined to fall that way? NO, you cann't. Because there were no other options for the stone to follow. It's like playing a dice..........any number from 1 to 6 can come. It's not destiny or fate.
Yes, sometimes it happens that some people fail despite their efforts. It's not their misfortune. No one succeeds at every try.
Perhaps You have heard the name of Robert Bruce, the Scotish king. His kingdom was captured by perhaps the English. He tried for 6/7 times and only after then that he secceeded in regaining Scotland. If he was a fatalist he would gave up trying mush earlier. Belief on fate or destiny takes away our hopes and makes us depressed.
Many people work hard but cannot change their condition because they work without plan. You cannot expect success if you Don't combine effort and you brain.
Can you show me just one person who succeeded in life without efforts? I can show you many examples of hardworking persons who succeeded.

I think you should view the two as dynamic relations rather than different options.
We are all subject to some conditions that we cannot affect very much. For instance, there are millions of people around the globe, in the undeveloped regions, who have the potential to be successful but will never get the opportunity because of where they were born.
It is so because the universe is a place where nature has to test every option in order to evaluate it. 'We' are part of nature and part of the testing process.
We should always make the Effort to change what can be changed, for the better I hope, but accept our larger Destiny with good grace.

I think 'effort' is far and more superior than 'destiny' since the effort implies hard work, activity and willing to success while the destiny implies light work, passivity and waiting for success. However, people are of course different regarding the means to achieve something and it seems to outsiders like you said but, according to Thomas Edison the great American inventor, he believed in 99% of perspiration and 1% of genius, in other words, hard work always counts.

Whether your efforts will succeed or not will be decided by your destiny! So no contradiction in your question. Destiny is always superior, no doubt. Your believing or not believing, your putting efforts or giving up, all that is part of your destiny. Destiny takes you to your destination.

Efforts definitely... I got a brain injury from a car accident 18 years ago. Nothing came easy to me. I couldn't feed myself for 1-2 years. It took me 4 years just to walk a few simple steps.
I had to struggle to get to where I am today and I wouldn't be here without my efforts. Whatever you choose to do, put your heart into it and be the best that you can be.

Efforts.
I don't believe in destiny.
I think destiny is what others have prepared for you.
Efforts are what YOU have prepared for you and for others! ;)

It is destiny that makes us put in efforts and feel proud if successful, or disappointed if unsuccessful.... effort is a part of destiny... destiny is much larger and well designed.
