For the fridge - 3 - 5 degrees C
Freezer - minus 18 - 20 C
I got myself a thermometer especially designed for fridges and freezers - the optimum temperature ranges are coloured on the display so you can easily see if your appliance is at the right temperature.

According to the Department of Health (CA), a restaurant (or commercial food storage) refrigerator should be set at 40*(f), and a minimum 0*(f) for a freezer. This is optimal for all food storage...And makes for a damn cold beer.

Your refrigerator should keep food at 36-38 degrees and your freezer should keep food close to 0 degrees. If your freezer is warmer than that, ice cream will get really soft.
