Here's some quick BS based on http://www.litencyc.com/php/sworks.php?rec=true&UID=9268

In Sinclair Ross' The Lamp At Noon, nature enters the story serves not only as a setting, but also a character that acts and reacts to other characters. At the beginning of the story, a dust storm surrounds and imprisons Ellen, Paul, and their baby. The storm is so fierce that the family must use a lamp to replace the sun, even as the wind howls through their house. But Sinclair carefully allows the wind to transcend it's physical nature to the point that it speaks the characters. Paul has spent his entire life tirelessly working on the farm, trying to feed and care for his family. Yet, he feels that his actions are without purpose and his deed are without reward. The wind represents the emotions that plague him, the sorrow of failure and the pain of having a family unsatisfied. As he arduously works the farm, the breeze haunts him, and when him to heads home to discover an empty house, he understands what nature has done. The "demented wind" infected his wife and he understands when he ventures out into the desert, there lay the inevitable, a dead son. The lamp replaced the lost sun, and the wind brought on madness. These two events, as well as the other devastating events of nature in this exhilarating tale, reflect a nature that controls and enters every element within its grasp.

See and I didn't even read it. Except for a short summary. Get some caffeine and get to work.

1000 words is something you can handle in a few hours and still have time to sleep. Try a search on the Internet - you may find some ideas that may help you.
Good luck :)

Go to sleep
Show the teacher the essay you did so she realises you made an honest mistake and weren't just being lazy. Tell the truth that you only discovered your error yesterday.
Don't worry - in the grand scheme of things this is a tiny problem.
Sweet dreams

I think you can miss one nights worth of sleep. It shouldn't take you that long to write an essay -unless its a 15 page essay.

1000 words? That's like, a page. Start doing it, then 5 minutes later go to sleep. Easy fixed, win/win.

Go to bed.

In the morning, go to class early and before others arrive, explain to your teacher. Be prepared for the worst, hope for the best...

Good luck...

Welcome to college- get used to pulling all-nighters. Go ahead and write your essay. Some professors will view your mistake as a failure to follow directions. I wouldn't chance it by hoping for an extension. Good luck.

I think if you explain to the teacher what happened, she will understand and give you an extension.
