Definitely.
They were the #1 team in the standings in the West before getting Forsberg, and they are only 1 point behind the Sabres.
And sorry to all the little fan-girls out there, but Forsberg is the best player in the league. The Preds made this move with one thing in mind:
WIN THE CUP.
And as an extra added bonus, the Flyers continue to make themselves less and less competitive...

If Forsberg stays healthy, he will make a difference. Forsberg is a team leader with toughness and playmaking ability. Although, I think the Preds gave up too much to get him. Deep in the playoffs they'll go.

Nope. It is good to see them do something. But they have been unimpressive atop the most cushy division in the league. 24 games against St Louis, Chicago and Columbus and you get pretty confident while you are getting fat. They will get a jolt hitting playoffs just like Detroit did last year. (Not that the Preds did any better) It doesn't matter who comes out of the Northwest, they come out mean, lean, hungry and fighting. It is no accident a Northwest team made it to the finals the last 2 cups.

it's hard to say. if i had to bet i'd say they are. but being from colorado and being an avs fan i will remind you of the year the avs got teemu selanne and paul kariya for dirt cheap. at the time it's seemed like the avs would just blow thru everybody and they should've just handed us the cup before the season even started. on paper we were that good. but - as you know - it certainly didn't work out that way. in fact, both players had the worst seasons of their careers. then they both went to different teams and became studs once again. team chemistry plays such a large part in sports, especially hockey. Calgary, edmonton, tampa, carolina the past 2 seasons are the best examples of that.
but i definitely thought that forsberg would accept a trade to a west-coast style team. i knew he wouldn't last playing east-coast style hockey. it's too physical on his battered body, and he needs space in order to use his creativity and his amazing athletic talent. it doesn't surprise me that he went to nashville. and the best team in the league (points-wise) definitely got better. there's no substitute for god-given talent, leadership, and desire. he's had a horrible season by his own admission, and you KNOW that the competitive juices in him are never-ending. so you KNOW that he's gonna be fired up to regain what he feels he has lost this season. absolutely EVERY team would LOVE to have peter forsberg if they could. 80% of peter forsberg is better than 90% of the entire league. there's a lot of hockey to be played, there's a lot of trades to be made (and you know that every team now is looking at this trade to see what THEY need to pull off), and let's hope his health stabilizes.
if they can get him blended with the chemistry they already have, and nobody else makes a similar blockbuster trade ... yeah... you gotta say they are the favorites right now

Come playoff time all bets are off and the Preds are going to get pushed all around the ice. They're front line is too small (Paul Kariya anyone?) And the D is just too inexperienced.

Gotta think they were one ofthe favs to win along with the sabres before the trade. I'd say they have to be the favourites now. From what I hear the Sabres aren't going to make any last minute trades and the injuries are starting to hit the small sabres again.
So Yes.

NOPE. D is too young, forwards are too small and euro. They will get pushed around in playoffs by a team like dallas or anaheim
