Who is better Magic Johnson or John Stockton?

John Stockton was the better point guard... If you are talking about all around talent... Without question it's Magic Johnson. He played all 5 positions on the court. Don't forget during his rookie season in the NBA Finals he played center and basically won them the championship by himself.

In the first Dream Team, with both of them in there, Magic Johnson had more play time than John Stockton. That tells you who's the Better one.

This one is a tough one to pick. I like both Magic Johnson and John Stockton

But to compare them because who won championship is unfair. Yes, Magic did have all those titles in LA but look at the teams he had to work with. He had Cooper, Jabbar, Worthy and Green, for a lot of those championships. So that is an unfair comparison.

Stockton only had Malone to work with. Yes, they made it to the finals twice but didn't win it. But remember they were playing against Michael Jordan and the bulls.

But in the end I would chose Magic Johnson for the following reasons.

1. He was versatile, but keep in mind he did not play all the position every night.
2. He was a very good clutch player
3. He was slightly a better passer than Stockton

Magic Johnson, hands down!

Both Magic and Stock are exceptional playmakers as shown by their respective stats in the assists department. Stockton is the all-time leader in total assists but Johnson has a higher a.p.g. and had he not retired early, Stockton wouldn't have overtaken him. Offense-wise, Stock was a better shooter and could hit the three on a dime. Magic, however, was a wizard with the ball and could do so many things with it: spin moves, ball fakes, up-and-under, you name it. And with his size, he could post-up even the centers of his time. Leadership-wise? Well, just look at their fingers. Johnson has 5. John Stockton, 0. This, however, should not take away from the greatness of John Stockton. It's just that Magic is better.

No question, Magic Johnson...the guy played all five positions at one point in his career! He's one of the greatest players in NBA HISTORY! Stockton is a Top 50 guy and definitely Top 5 PG's but not in Magic's league.
