i agree, and anyway, what is going to happen to the olympic village when the olympics finishes afterwards? one thing's for sure though and that is i doubt that many kids will make use of it; it's going to be used in the summer of 2012 of whenever, and then weeks later, the building is going to be abandoned and will be not much use. sadly, and unsurprising as it is, i'd say labour have more money than sense

I agree with your feelings and as someone has already mentioned now we want the World Cup. Why aren't the people of this country asked beforehand if we want to waste money on these things instead of doing good with it. I'd say the money should go to the NHS but I've a sneaky feeling that all the extra money goes to the administrators in pay rises, which is not the idea. Bring back the old days of matrons and sisters, when wards were clean and people didn't die with maggots in open wounds.

The World is a stage for Mr Blair, the NHS doesn't gain any attention elsewhere, but the Olympics does.
Bit like his Dome, seem to remember him blithering on about the World being amazed at it blah blah blah!
Same reason they want the World Cup.
I don't mind us getting the Olympics etc,it's the corruption and going over budget by zillions, that bothers me.
What about the £20Billion for the new useless NHS computer software? Could have bought Microsoft for that!!

Why on Earth we got involved in the race to hold the olympic games at all is beyond me.
This has got to be the biggest waste of money of all time and as the question implied many people will actually suffer because of the money squandered on thewm.
The olympics only real purpose is for the Olympic committee to make millions out of them.

In the hope that the Olympic games with bring in more money than you can shake a stick at. You think we're over crouded now! Wait till 2012. If we're still here!
