There comes times in everyones lives when you need to reverse the decision you made...but like everything else---the best rule is to 'BE NICE" --- treat people with respect---is one drink a problem?? Cant go and stay one hour and then never go again??? Is it grammar school again??? NO you should be adult by now----if you REALLY cant tolerate a few minutes, just say that you have a prior arrangement and you don't think you'll have time to go..thanks anyway. Next time don't agree at all--then you won't have to back out---and if the guy is really a pest--tell him you cannot go out and wish him luck--say good bye. Don't be anything but an aduklt about it. good luck and have a nice life.

u only know wen u go, so do this. u go for that drink but
ask yo frends to co u immidiately u beep them if his till the annoying person u used to know way back at school then u just have to tell him something has just come up & u are needed immediately that way u save yo self if his still the annoying man & if not then u get to enjoy the time. killing two birds with one stone huh.

You should go, you might surprise yourself and have a good time, and he could have changed for the better. And if not, well, you might meet someone who you otherwise would not have met.
If you still strongly dont want to go, however, just be honest(and nice) to the guy and tell him youre flattered, but not interested, so that he doesnt live on false hope. Its only fair, after all, we like for guys to tell us the truth

Good luck either way!

You shouldnt have accepted the invite in the first place. Why dont you say you have to pitch at work, as someone fell sick ( of you work at a restaurant, this is a great excuse). Or you need to work late. It works any time. Or just say: "Listen, I had a rough week and I really don't feel like going out. There is a lot I have to think about, and sort myself out."

Why dont you tell him the truth instead of coming up with a good excuse as why not to go for a drink with him.

Or you could

Just go and bite your tongue! it might not be as bad as you think.

Fresh air is good for you!

Take care

Truth is always good. If you lie now you'll be answering for it later. But to spare his feelings just tell him you can't go, or you don't want to go. Bottom line is you owe no one an explanation. You are a grown man. If you don't want to go then just say so.

Use your imagination!
'i promised i would be on babysitting duty and a completely forgot'
'the radiators burst'
someone's smashed a window'
'family problems'
'im ill'
'no money'
'somethings come up can we arrange it for another time??' then just never get back in contact and don't answer the phone if he rings you!

Call him and say "sorry, can't make it, something else has come up" Don't say you'll meet up another time or you will end up in the same position.
Doing it this way he will get the message without you saying it in a hurtful way.
