ITS DIFFERENT FOR DIFFRENT SEACRH BARS IF UR USING YAHOO SEARCHBAR
RIGHT CLICK ON THE "PENCIL ICON" AND CLICK CLEAR SERCH HISTORY
IF IT S GOOGLE THEN THE SAME PROCESS IS TO BE CONTINUED OR RIGHT CLICK AND CHECK OUT THE PROPERTIES

Iam afraid that what you have been trying to do is impossible. everyone is answering about the history when u ask about the search bar! DEar god! I have had the same problem for as long as i can remember and i havent found a solution yet. You see all those nice search companies never help with these problems they just ignore them.

As the above link suggests, people who post questions on a forum, should think about how they formulate their questions. It's first of all a good idea to say in the topic what the question is about, but in the message itself you should also mention the relevant 'details' to your question.
In this particular case, the asker totally forgot to mention what browser (s)he is using, and what search bar. Both questions are very important, as each may have a different way of reseting them. If, for example, you're using Firefox as a browser, then simply right clicking the search bar brings up a context menu, from which the option 'Clear Search History' does exactly what it says --and what the asker wants.
THINK, people, before you post.

In FireFox, use the option that says "clear private data now", it will delete all traces of areas that you've visited. It's under the "tools" area of the browser.

2 places - first delete the temp internet files. Then go to Autocomplete and delete history there. Then turn off autocomplete.

Delete the history and cache of the browser. Every browser gives you this option.
