Opinion based on material, how it looks, etc. Is it anything like the iPod? Do they show fingerprints? Do they wear? Scratch? I think I like how the white looks more, but I've never had a Mac so I don't know how it'd do in the long run.

I own a black MacBook currently and I love it. Aside from the upgraded hard drive only (not a graphics card!) there is no difference between the 2.0 white and black macbooks.
They will wear and I recommend a hard case for it, but it's purely on preference. For me it was worth the 70 bucks or so difference (When comparing a white MacBook with an upgraded hard drive) to the black one. The white one works great too. They all seem to be generally dust and dirt magnets but there are several products out there that help to reduce it.
There is nothing different aside from the hard drive which is upgradable.

The white one does get dirty easily, but it is all based on your preference. Your best bet is to go to CompUSA and see which one you like better. I have had the MacBook Pro (silver) for almost 4 years with no problems and I love it.

the black one is the macbook's elite, it has more memory and a better graphics card. it also looks way cooler. I own a white one and the crystal-like cover scratches really easy, it is also hard to clean up.

White wont show marks and white can show that its dirty and needs cleaning
