After applying makeup, give your face a quick misting with water from a spray bottle. Hold the bottle away from your face, then lightly mist…it will set your makeup and keep your skin fresh for at least a few hours after application.

Or, try applying your makeup while your skin is still a bit moist from a shower/face wash. After I shower, I lightly pat my face (just so that it's not dripping wet), then apply moisturizer and immediately follow up with foundation and let my face "air dry". As the water absorbs into your skin, it will "bond" onto your makeup, so you get good foundation absorption as well.

Perhaps non-use of moisturizer, or the cleansers you're using are contributing to the extra shine? Some cleansers strip away all the oil, but they also leave skin very dry. Oil is the skin's natural response to dryness, so if you're not using a moisturizer afterwards, that may be the reason. As for cleansers, use St. Ives' apricot scrub for your face beforehand - just think of how sand is sometimes shoveled onto driveways to get rid of excess oil slicks - and let it set for a few, then wash off, moisturize, apply makeup, etc. I've been able to control the shine for years this way ;o)

Obviously, the cause of your face to shine after applying make up is oil. You need an "oil control film". It's very cheap and certainly very effective because I've been using it for months now and it's just what i need.

The Body Shop has great blotting tissue paper that takes off the oil. I always use powder over a foundation and it helps.

Use blotting tissues a couple of times throughout the day. Also, there are pre-makeup serums that are very helpful in controlling oil, and they make your face smooth for makeup application. Google--facial serums oily skin.
