If you live in a community property state, then your ex is entitled to half of most everything that you acquired while with each other...which includes bills. If you filed a legal separation when you split up, or got the divorce rolling, that might help out with what's been accumulated up to this point. Talk to your attorney and find out what your rights are according to your state.
