I think you are saying that you know what 'cotton' is but you want to know what codone is. Am I right? Hope so cuz here goes-
The correct names of both are Oxycontin and oxycodone. Oxycontin is a brand name for a synthetic narcotic analgesic that contains the exact same active ingredient as oxycodone. Oxycodone is the generic name for the well-known narcotic Percocet. The only difference between the two is that Oxycontin contains no Tylenol and Percocet has 325Mg's of acetaminophen(Tylenol). Since Oxy doesn't contain the liver-damaging Tylenol it can be prescribed in higher doses for a longer period of time. Oh and just so you, and everybody else knows, Vicodin, Oxycontin, Morphine and Percocet are not the same drug as codeine. Codeine is regarded as one of the weaker narcotics, along with Darvocet. They are all classified as synthetic(man-made) opioid or opiate narcotics. Hope this helped-sorry I'm so long-winded

Oxycontin derives from Morphine. Codone is similar to Opium and Codeine. You have to be very careful with both.
