i mean really...
going on and on about how bad South Africa is, yadda, yadda this...yap, yap, yap, that! and funny enough, most of these yapping kings dont even live here anymore, but they seemingly seem to know more about RSA, than the actual residents of this country. This whole yapping, hasnt helped much, has it? Bitter people who cant afford to do anything but blaze SA...what the hell does that do for you? make you feel better? improve the countries condition? i suggest if anyone is going to talk, they best be talking about solutions and not problems... a lot of us carry a hope in our hearts, i love my home country. i've nowhere else coz this place is my origin...i've no distant cousin in europe or somewhere else overseas, who can set me up for a while after i leave this place...etc. So pls, just leave...or offer solutions...thank you!

***** - how well named, go back to school having recieved a distinction in the language? thats all i can afford, i'm tswana and would rather be proud of my tswana grammar than english. i love the language, but i wasnt raised in an english speaking household thank you...i majored in it through high school and primary and currently hold a post as a copywriter at SA's biggest ad agencies....point to all this info? well, people like you make ridiculous assumptions from minor things you see or hear without the proper facts, so why listen to you...you live in your house obviously - not South Africa.

i apologise if i offended any white people...it wasnt my intention. i know a great many of you are as compassionate as i am, and for that i am eternaly thankful...mwah!

Inno my luv, I know this is a serious topic one I feel so passionate about, but I'm so drained today, reading this and what other people have responded. All I can say is it's about time it ends, I think as humans we are so good at pointing fingers, pushing blame and getting bitter at each other. It really is ugly, mentally and physically draining because in between that crossfire nothing's really been done, so much energy is spent on anger, bitterness, pointing fingers - who did what, who didn' do what and not much being put in to resolving issues, not much action. You know what they say talk is cheap. Like you Inno, I've gone on and on about how passionate I am about my country (wassup South Africa) how much I love my country. But do I have to show for it, what do u have to show for it. I think we've been focussing too much on other people both in and out the country and not focusing on ourselves the ones who claim to love our country and want to see change. what are you doing about it, what are you doing to bring about change, what solutions do you have in ensuring that we have a better coutry. Those who don't want to be in our lovely country, who trash our country let them be. Let's concentrate on ourselves, the remaining children, developing, resolving, creating, improving our beautiful diverse land and it's beautiful children. So let them be, stop the bickering it's not worth it, they are not worth it!

It is blatantly obvious that you are amongst the biggest racists that contribute to the SA forum. Your dislike of white people is sad to say the least.
Perhaps you do not understand what democracy is. It gives one the freedom to express oneself. The government has been elected to do a job and if they fail to do that job, then quite obviously people have a right to complain about it.
If I am in the workplace and I am failing to do my job, then I'll be fired. The same should apply to a democatically elected government.

You are quite clearly implying that only white people are complaining. That makes one wonder how much you actually know about the country you "love so much".
Every race, creed and religion in SA are complaining about the disgraceful crime. The state that SA is in is disgusting to say the least.
People are airing their views about this as they have a right to do so. It is the governments job to find solutions since that is what they have been elected for.

You mention that "i've no distant cousin in europe or somewhere else overseas, who can set me up for a while after i leave this place"
So what is youir point? Many people and their families who have emigrated have done so alone. They have found their own paths without the aid of "distant cousins"
In fact that is how SA was built - people leaving their home countries to start afresh in a new place.

The people that have been chased away are those that SA can least afford to lose. We have lost thousands of highly qualified engineers, doctors, nurses, etc.
And yet here you are wishing for even more to leave.
Shame.

Glynis18:
You say that "we can lower interest rates on housing, so that more people can afford it." Interest rate changes are a lot more complex than that honey. An additional point to consider if rates were lowered would be that even more South Africans would be trapped in spiralling debt. An economy built on debt is not good.
You also say that "And people who can afford to pay more, do so in order to make up for those who cannot" That's bordering a bit on communism wouldn't you say? That is hardly surprising though given that large amounts of our "democratic" government ministers belong to the communist party. In actual fact, it is already happening. Who do you think pays for the "free water and electricity" that many receive?

You also mention that "No one said anything about races, ok? We are South African, regardless of skin colour. Why does race always come into play?"
Are you actually living in SA? Then you should know that EVERYTHING is to do with the colour of your skin.

Motti:
I think generally you're a good guy but your comment that "I don't get why people who are so afraid of living here and hate this place speak so much bad about the country but remain living here?!" is not a valid one.
Do you think it is easy for people to just leave if they wanted to? Of course not. It is incredibly difficult to emigrate and you require a huge amount of money. Ironically, the people who are least able to emigrate due to lack of finance are the ones most harshly affected by crime.

*sigh* goodluck! They wont and you know what? It really doesn't bother me anymore.
Tiger2000, you say that you have offered solutions? Where? Please refer me to the post. I have said this time and time again. Yes, there is crime, but for goodness sake, talk about solutions instead of moaning and whinging. god, I need to organise you guys some cheese to go with your w(h)ine.
How can we alleviate poverty? Which, is the basis of all this crime. Desperate times calls for desperate measures. 46% umemployment, that is no joke! Let's talk about how we can lower interest rates on housing, so that more people can afford it. And people who can afford to pay more, do so in order to make up for those who cannot. I know I am more than willing to do that. Go to FNB, Standard Bank, Nedbank and propose it to them. I have!
Positive thinking leads to positive doings. It's the same with kids!

Edited:
********* I think you meant, crime is getting worse and worse ;) Yes it is, so DO something about it. All your moaning will only fall on deaf ears, haven't you learnt? How long have we been complaining for? And has anything been done? NO! So, be part of the SOLUTION, not the whingers.
So, then which newspapers should we read?
Also calling someone a racist, only reveals what you are ;) No one said anything about races, ok? We are South African, regardless of skin colour. Why does race always come into play? And why is it even when someone moans everyone calls them a racist?
And what did you mean by this? And I quote "Deep down you know that half of you people are corrupt and cruel savages" You see what I mean about racism! Which people? The Blacks? South Africans?

South Africa is also my origin but you just don't get it, do you or maybe you just don't care. I personally think that you are the biggest racist among us because you just want people out of this country. You know, we have the right and good reason to complain cause we are sick and tired of living in fear every single day. We don't get any help from the so-called government and the police are so corrupt that a person can't even turn to them for help anymore. They don't want to make crime their first priority. They do nothing about the crime. The government are just getting richer and richer by the day, so why bother about the crime right? We feel so helpless by now, so yes we complain cause that's all we can do at this stage. We don't have any hope at this stage and we see no progress regarding the crime. The crime is getting worser and worser and that's all we read in the newspapers and when you watch the news that's all you hear about and all you hear or read at the end of it is that the police are investigating the case. Those investigations usually turn into a hopeless case. Most of those scums still walk among us. You know how many people already left this country over the past ten years and why? I bet you don't know or you probably don't care. Most of the people who left this country were probably victims of crime, rape victims or people who lost someone close to them because of the crime. So please, next time you must think twice before you get aggressive and tell people to leave this country, ok? Oh, and stop running to your favourite Sowetan newspaper cause they are also so corrupt and they never reveal the truth. They always make the scums look like the victims. You obviously don't know what's going on around you. You read the wrong newspapers or you don't watch the news. Deep down you know that half of you people are corrupt and cruel savages. You just don't want to accept it. Have a heart!

this is pathetic. i live in rsa. so wat if people have nothing betta to say about our country. they dnt live here, and those who did were obviously clever enough to realise wats happening here and decided they werent going to let them selves and their familys wrry anymore. but nevertheless people dnt need to judge a country they have neva lived in. and for the person tht said its a dungheap should live here for a here and maybe they will realise regardless of the crime and wateva else, its a beautiful country. us as south africans judges the americans jst as much. coz they chose a stupid president but then again so did we. cnt we all just stop finding faults in other countries and try and solve wats wrong with ours

I don't get why people who are so afraid of living here and hate this place speak so much bad about the country but remain living here?! Do you get it? I agree with you, they should all just shut up and leave! South Africa is a beautiful country and only those who appreciate it really belong here! Take care :-)

Perhaps one day when you grow up you will truly understand the meaning of the word democracy. You may even live in one should you leave South Africa. South Africa is a de facto one Party state whose current leaders are well trained and grounded in Communism. They play on the fact that nearly 80% of South Africans are by and large uneducated and these are the people who put them in power. They have reinvented South Africa's history to let people believe that the ANC were struggle heroes who liberated the Country and all ills are the "legacy of Apartheid." Anyone with half a brain in examining the facts would deduce that if South Africa was so oppressive under the previous Government them millions would have fled just like they are doing currently. An examination of the so called "struggle" shows it was little more than a propaganda war financed by the Communist Eastern Europeans and Russians fought in the Western Media. There were no battlefields and heroic soldiers - just terrorists blowing up Pubs and churches and necklacing any Black person who did not agree with them. You have been told before Mandela was a terrorist and if you look at history 20 years ago the Prime Minister of the UK and the President of the US had branded the ANC as a terrorist organisation. In fact young Conservatives were demonstrating in the streets of London carrying placards reading " Hang Mandela and all ANC terrorists." So a start point for you would be to understand the real history of Mandela and the ANC. Nobody is saying apartheid was a good Policy but purely from an economic perspective it was better than the Communism you now live under despite the economic sanctions placed on it. Your Country is being looted by a corrupt Government and its elite henchman and the electorate are too busy wallowing in tales of liberation and struggle to see it.
As for a solution - who is listening in the ANC? Certainly not the denialist Mbeki who has still to figure out that HIV leads to AIDS. Didn't they put down the FNB campaign and didn't Mbeki say on your TV that people are "wasting their time and money writing to him?" Hasn't Lekota just accused the Australian Government of racism because South Africans who have resettled there complain about the crime? As for asking those who complain to leave you parody the words of the intellectually challenged fraudster Nqakula. What right have you to ask anyone born there with hundreds of years of family history there to leave?
You have one solution - get rid of the ANC and realign yourselves with Western Democracies instead of the despots of the World. Do not invoke the African culture that if you dont talk about it,it goes away because it doesn't and in years to come you will sincerely regret believing the lies and drivel the ANC feeds you.

it is only the chicken ones that moan......they are not prepared to get there hands dirty and make the country better. if the police are so bad, join the reservists and do 8 hours duty per month in YOUR OWN COMMUNITY and see if you make that difference. If your councillors are inefficient put yoyself up for nomination and do a better job....................and i can carry on with hundreds of examples...
