I would think that a elephant or a crocodile would have a pretty long life span, as far as short it would depend on what you are referring to and if insects could be included, or fish. Because some fish have very short life spans and so do some insects.

i believe there are some giant clams that are about 200 years old.and theres some kind of fruit fly that only lives a few hours.tortoises are no longer considered the longest lived animals
