Who told you that going alone to a movie is a problem has some self confidence issues. I believe that you can go anywhere alone and have a great time, just ignore everything that others may say. Who knows, this way you could meet new interesting people.

Why do we always feel we have to do things in couples. When I first started going out alone, I felt people were staring at me. That is their problem. I enjoy going out alone and to the movies. It isn't always possible to be with friends so if I really want to do something I will go it alone if I have to.
The same thing goes for sitting at a table alone. It's a strange thing that if someone is looking for a seat and none are available, they will not sit at a table where there is someone. In Europe that has never been a problem. People politely ask and sit down. What's wrong with that.

No not at all! If you can do it without feeling awkward then more power to you! The reason other's don't do it is cuz they're scared and can't get alone with themselves. So if you have the mentality to enjoy yourself then you truly love yourself and it's a great thing! I do it all the time to see movies or dinner or whatever. Don't depend on others.

You know it's funny that you ask this question. When I lived in New York and even now in California, I love going out to places and eating alone. I'm a very social person, but I also love going places and just relaxing by myself.
Yet, for some reason I feel uncomfortable when i go to the movie by myself(I've only done it once I think). I think because I associate the movies with going on a date.

I am in the US and I go to movies alone. You don't talk to anyone you would go with during the movie so what's the big deal. I also go out to eat alone when traveling. Take a book along to read, but never read it as always too busy "people watching".
Lesson here: Be your own person and do not worry about what others think about you. Those who know you won't think less of you and you should not care about those who don't know you.

I don't think it's bad to go to amovie or theatre alone. It happens that sometimes you want to see something that none of your friends have an interest in so you either go on your own or miss seeing it. I often go alone to see a movie as I usually get so engrossed in it that I don't even notice the other person there. It's no big deal!

Whenever I see a middle-aged man at a movie theater alone I only think of one thing.
mhm.
But usually if you go to a place that is meant for social affairs but you're not being social, then yeah. You'll seem out of place to people. That's just the way it is.

I do it all the time. Who cares. People worry too much about doing it alone but, when you walk through a restaurant even with your friends, do you look down on people who are there by themselves? Of course not. It's all paranoia.

It's anti-social behavior.
Kinda freaky.
May creep people out.
I don't have a problem with it... but then... I am kinda anti-social.
PS There's like nobody in the movie theatre in the day time. I get it all by myself! lol

cause you look like a loser. i do it with little shame but i am a lonely person. the fact that it bothers you shows it makes you feel that way and that's the problem because you don't really know what they think of you and they probably aren't even paying much attention to you.
