Every time I try to drink a glass of water, half of it goes down the side of my face. Is this a hand-eye coordination problem, or is it due to a lack of fine motor skills. All of my shirts are soaked.

As a licensed psychologist, I have been successful in treating disorders such as yours.

First, you have to know that you are not alone. Many people suffer just as you. Tragically, most are to ashamed to admit it. They sneak drinks privately. Hidden from their loved ones and friends they will don a plastic suit and binge for hours at a time.

But have hope. There are many treatments and therapies available to you.

One method is to break you of your anticipation of failure. We simply start with an empty glass. After numerous practice drinks, we them move to the next step. The glass is filled with Jello. This acts as a trigger for your mind. You can feel the weight of a full glass. Again, many practice drinks. Then, naturally we move to pure liquids. This usually works. It may take many sessions, but I'm sure you would consider the considerable cost minor compared to the results.

If that treatment is unsuccessful, then we will try aversion therapy. Some, within my profession, consider it a bit harsh, but I have had very good results with it.

There are several ways to do this. One is to fill the glass with either gasoline or, in severe cases, acetone. Holding a lit match near your chest, you simply drink. Or attempt to. After several sessions, the problem is usually solved. I do have to warn you though, it can be painful. The good part is that you won't have to shave for some time and those pesky nostril hairs are a thing of the past.

Electricity has also been used with very good results. Nothing like 220 volts slaming you in the chest to make you change your habits. This method I am somewhat averse to only because it requires me to have to mop the floor of all the urine.

There are 12 step (12 is a good number, by the way) programs, but I don't advise that. They are free, true, but we professionals believe that a complete cure is only possible after considerable costs hve been incured

I hope this has helped.

By the way, I note that, based on your name, you may have serious vowel issues. I can help with that. But, that is for another time.

Enough free advice.

Well, Ted Striker, it's probably a hand-eye coordination issue, you need to play more video games to improve that.

Seek professional advice to find out why you are unable to close your mouth properly while drinking from a glass.
Good Luck!
