saw it in a movie wanted to know if it was real or not?

Yes, it was tried at Myth Busters and the phone book did stop the .22 bullet, also a pack of cards, like to play poker, also stopped it, perhaps a Zzipo lighter did too.

Yes; a thick phonebook can stop a .22. Those bullets are really quite small.

It probably depends on the size of the phone book. The Los Angeles phone book, maybe. But frankly I wouldn't really want to hold one up and give it a try.

No, I personally tried it, and that bullet just zinged right through that book straight to my heart. Yet here I am telling you about it when I should be at my grave.
