to cue for traffic lights?

the red light is always on top and green on the bottom so they can tell which is lit up.

No. Colorblind people may not know what color they are seeing, but they can tell which light is lit. That's one reason that traffic signals are standardized with stop being on top. Both my father and one of my nephews are colorblind, but it hasn't affected their driving in any way.

can of beans is right. My dad and uncle are colour blind and they go by the order of the lights. Some cities are not set up the same way but they figure it out . Just for the record neither one of them has been in an accident for at least 15 + years and the accidents before that were not because of the confusion of the lights.

Can't they just go by the order of the light/ You know , top to bottom, red, yellow, green

I think you'll find colourblind people aren't allowed to drive for that reason!
