I am getting conflicting information. One PC Repair guy states that caused more damage, but another states that alcohol is best because it leaves no residue unlike soap and water. Who is right? It's not functioning right now.

Alcohol may work on one PC and not another! I wouldnt use it on ANY PC! It also depends on what your friend cleaned, alcohol on the mylar film that makes up the keyboard matrix may easily wipe the print right off of it! Alcohol on the circuit board may not harm it at all! Then it depends on what type of alcohol you use! When in doubt, dont use it! If you are cleaning the mylar film on a keyboard, use mild soap and water and then let it air dry before assembly. If you are cleaning the circuit board, use a known non conductive elec component cleaner spray. In any case, as others have stated, the damage may have been done when you spilled the juice on it!

The correct thing to do was to take it apart and Clean it with alcohol using Q-tips bc the guy was correct it leaves no residue... was the laptop on when the juice was spilled in there?? bc if so that is probility why its not working. probility shorted something out when you spilt the juice in there.

the juice killed the computer but the guy that said to clean with rubbing alcohol is right use cotton swabs on it then u should be OK but the juice possiblely killed it if it was on at the time that it happen

Small amounts of alchohol wont hurt it to get the stickyness away but if you just made sure that you turned if of right away when it was wet and made sure it dried completely it should be fine. Liquids dont break electronics, liquids and electricity break electronics. P.S. I swam with my selfphone 3 times and it still works because i let it dry for a week each time.

If he used only for cover, it's not a problem.
I think it is no functioning coz the juice may seep into body and damaged hardware.
