I am curious as to how many people support the FCC stance to limit violence on television and satellites and is this the beginning of the censorship that the government is taking at control of our broadcasting practices?

If it's broadcast in such a way that it can easily be received by young children, then I am in favor of the legislation.

If it is closed circuit (paid cable) where parents have complete control over what is received in their home, then I'm not in favor of it.

Social mores and ethics dictate that there are limits as to what anyone can display or say publically. Try flipping off a cop sometime and make the argument that it's freedom of expression or freedom of speech. Yeah - right... It's called obscenity or lewdness and there have been laws on the books for many years which prohibit this in public, although they're enforced less and less nowdays.

Violence is another aspect of this which has a strong negative effect on society.

I'm not in favor of censorship, but am in favor of the consumer having absolute control of what gets transmitted to their TV - and that goes beyond simply changing the channel or using the on/off switch which any 5-year old can learn how to do.

The FCC and many other branches of the government that should not exist, are making our citiezens stupider. (that might not be a word, don't sue me over it). It is one of the ways in which our system constantly tells us that it needs to look out for us, because we are incapable of looking our for ourselves or our own children. By taking any responsibility out of our hands for common sence, good parenting, and other desision making processes, in the long run they are making weak American's who are easily controled and influenced. The world is full of things that we don't want to see, or want our children to see, but that desision should be in our hands, not our governments. It is not their bussiness, and it never should have been.

It may be inevitable at this point. Personally, I'm against government censorship in just about any form that doesn't jeopardize national security.

To a limited extent. Keep violence ans swearing off of kid's programs, and commercials too, it's been shown that they're harmful at that age. once you hit adult programing, just rate it and use a V-chip.

It's ok for them to do it during day time tv but I think after 10 pm they should let it go.
