I love Mary Kay's foundations.
They have different kinds, such as creme to powder, regular liquid in medium or heavy coverage, tinted moisturizer, etc. I'm sure you could find the right formula/color for you.
The prices are very reasonable, from $14-$18. To order (or just try) any of their foundations, you need to first find a consultant. If you don't know one personally, you can find one at their website.

Good luck!

Lancome liquid foundations are the best. I work for the company and can tell you that all of the liquid foundations apply seamlessly with a great coverage. Lancome has an array of lines for different skin types and needs, but my personal favorite is the oil-free Teint Idole Ultra for normal or oily skin.
Dual Finish is also a popular make-up that comes in a powder form. You can apply it dry or dampen the sponge for slightly more coverage. The products we offer are rich and luxurious. The prices for our foundations generally run around $35 to $38.

If you're not big on makeup (I normally don't wear much), then I would suggest that you find a foundation that matches your skintone really well. Most have charts that you can compare your skin to, but if they have a sample bottle/stick/compact, blend some onto the top of your hand, or the inside of your wrist to test it out. You can go less expensive, but I would advise a formula with more water than oils to leave your skin breathable and touchable. The one thing you might really invest in are makeup brushes. This will make any makeup look more professional.

You should go to a make up counter like Nordstroms or Mac if it is in your area. They will know what is best by asking you questions and sampling some on you.
What I just picked up today and find it to be excellent (I have worn all kinds of foundation like clinique etc) is Cover Girl "Out last". Best wishes.

Mary Kay first thing I could use that didn't make me look washed out and match my skin tone completely. It is non transferable so it doesn't come off on my clothes or anyone else when I give hug.
Long wearing and oil free. depending on they type of skin you have they have several kinds to choice from I use the oil absorbing in the summer.
$14 - 18
