I am currently a sophomore in high school.


Freshman Year, First Semester:
Honors English : B
Life Skills: A
Honors Biology: A
Dance: A
Geometry : A
Spanish 1: A

2nd Semester:
same classes, all A's


Fall Semester of Sophomore Year
H English : B
H Algebra 2: B
H Chemistry: B
Spanish 2: A
Film Making : C (this is why i'm asking, i'm really upset with my C)
Drill Team : A

this year i joined drill team, and i am also on CSF. i didn't get to join any clubs due to lunch practice for drill team, but this semester I am hoping to join key club.
i got a 1810 on my PSAT/NMSQT.


What should I do? Is there any hope?

or any other colleges I should strive for?

Unfortunately, your freshman grades won't count. UCs don't count your freshman year grades. Still, only one semester is kind of down. Get straight A's the rest of the way through, and you still got a shot. Just need to really nail that SAT and make sure you do lots of extra currics. Don't worry about quantity, worry about quality. If drill team takes up lunch time that clubs use, do well in drill. Do competitions or something. Or, use time after school to do things.

you basically need to stick with advanced classes for the rest of high school and just do well in all of them.. im taking five IB classes, and i do community service, and am in a youth advisory commission.. you just need to do things that will stand out for colleges

WOw thinking ahead aren't you. Your grades are more than fine for UCLA. I would say that being a minority healps but I don't think you need that, you would get in regardless, that is of course if you can afford it.
