This is coming from the perspective of a Ravens fan. Chad Johnson is a deep threat and he is more talented than Hines Ward but I would say Hines Ward is the guy that I hate for my team to have to play because he is one of the most physical guys I have ever seen play WR. Most of the time he will intiate contact with DB's. I also never see him shy away from taking a hit. He almost always keeps going to get that extra few yards, when he can take the easy way out and go out of bounds. The Steeler's running game is as good as it is because he can block down field. Chad Johnson on the other hand is not much different from any other talented WR in the game. Double him and dont let him beat you deep.

Both of them are very good. I'd have to pick Johnson over ward. Johson draws so many more double teams. Look at their receiving ranking over the past 3 years 2004- Chad 6th hines 24th, 2005- Chad 4th, Hines 22nd, 2006 - Chad 1st, Hines 21st. Those are for the entire league. Chad is the only player in NFL history to lead his conference (AFC) for four straight years.
Ward is a great guy, so is Chad. Chad just happens to get a little more press.

I agree that it is a very laughable comparison. I think Ward is a great guy, but very overrated (talent wise) as a WR. One of the first things out of peoples' mouths is that he's the best blocking WR. I'll take a good blocking O-Line and FB (and possible TE) and a WR who's fast and tall thank you. To be a pretty good blocker, he's going to be lackluster in other areas (like Deion Sanders said of corners "show me a CB who can tackle very well, and I'll show you one who stinks in coverage"). Plus, he's not very "high up" on a strength/size scale. If I were looking for big WRs, I'd take someone like Anquan Boldin who's 6'1" 223 (to Hines' 6' 205) or one of the 6'4"+ 230+ guys that many teams are starting to get. Chad is an all around better athelete and WR than Hines (and Chad is just goofey, he doesn't have "behavior issues").

Well, Chad has Ward beat on Speed and overall athletic abilities. But Ward is stronger, has better hands and is probably the best blocking WR in the game. Ward also doesn't have the off field problems and doesn't beat women.

Who has the Superbowl Ring and MVP? Who is the TEAM player? Who is the best blocking Reciever? Now if you want a loud-mouth that has a habit of show boating then please pick Johnson. If you want a man who will put in the hours for the team and who will help you win the games in more ways then just catching a few balls then pick Hines Ward. You're right the talent level ISN'T close, Ward is far ahead.

Chad certainly has Ward outclassed in pure talent, but I'm a Bengals fan, and even I often wonder where his head's at. Sometimes he strikes me as a guy who'd rather pile up numbers than help his team win. Never had that concern with Ward.

Chad: "I've got better hands, better feet, and my QB doesn't try to kill himself by wrecking his motorcycle. What do you got, that I don't got?"
Hines: "I've got the ring". Shows him his Super Bowl XL ring.
They're both excellent WR's. Hines is stronger, Chad is quicker. Both have great QB's to hit them up. But Hines took his team to a Super Bowl, won it, and walked out with MVP.
