Every baby is different and they all settle into their sleeping patterns at different times, but in general between four and six months is a decent rule of thumb to count on. But again, ALL BABIES ARE DIFFERENT. Some take much longer, some take much less.
If the baby is sleeping, let him sleep. When he is hungry he will wake up and make sure that you know he wants his milk! :)

Some babies sleep does not become regular (2 naps during the day, and a fairly early bed time like 7pm) until they are older. Usually by 5 to 6 months babies start to have a morning nap at around 9 or 10am, and afternoon nap at 1 to 2pm and then may be ready for bed by 7 to 8pm and still wake for a couple of feedings during the night. Colicky babies may take longer to fall into any pattern. That being said, all babies are different so some may never fall into this type of pattern. As long as your baby seems happy and rested, then try not to worry yourself too much. Also, regarding waking your baby for feedings, it should not be necessary at all at this point (unless he is very very small for his age). You may not want him to have 5 hour naps during the day though as this may make it difficult for him to get to bed later. Good luck!

you sound just like me a cuople weeks ago!!! i have a 2 month old hes doing well now i began feeding him every 3 hours during the day so he didnt want to eat at night and about 8pm i give him his bath and read a book and bottle (try feeding him more at his bedtime) he sleeps from 8 to 1 or 2 then up at 5am and 8am this is SO much better than what he was doing. make sure that when you put him to bed that you dont bring him back out into the living room or another light room- he needs to know when its bed time!!! ;)

I would try and wake him earlier in the evening say around 5:00 pm and try to keep him up as much as possible then he may sleep better at night. Also try putting him down to bed at a certain time like 8:00pm and let him lay in the crib if need be, as long as he is not crying. A little crying will not hurt him. Help to try and estiblish a sleeping pattren with help both him and you.

most babies don't establish a sleep pattern until they're 4 months old...my first born was like that...his pedia told me to let him sleep through the night even without feeding. don't wake him up to feed...he will wake up when it's time and he's hungry...that way he will be able to learn to sleep through the night soon, therefore giving you time to sleep too. during the day, if five hours have passed and he isn't fed yet, look for signs of wakefulness (for example, ur baby's eyes are moving under the lids) stroke him gently and talk to him until he is fully awake. never force him to wake up. you may change his diaper or do other routines until he is ready to feed. every baby is different, you just have to be patient and wait it out...don't worry there's nothing wrong with him...if u think he's colicky, talk to his pedia...

Babies are really hard to handle especially during this age. Don't worry he will have a good sleeping habit when he reaches 4-6 months. Every babies have different patterns every month so try to be patient. Try to sleep when he sleeps so you can wake up when he wakes up. that way you won't feel so exhausted. Feed him when he wakes up. Enjoy being a mommy!

Try keeping him awake in the day. You say that he stays up for 5-6 hours at night. Try to get him to do that in the day. He may not need as much sleep as you think.
Don't wake him up to feed him, he will wake up when he is hungry.

i dont think you have anything to worry about, just keep him awake as long as you possibly can during the day and let him sleep it of at night another thing you can do is play with him heaps during the day it will make him tierd and if you keep him awake then by night he will be so tierd, dont wake him up during the night for his feeds if he is hungry he will wake you up also try putting him to bed a little later at night
