Hi, i was chosen to represent my school in both the events. The problem is, i only have 2 weeks to train. I'm a sprinter therefore i can do 100m. If i start training for the 400m event i will probably end up loosing both right? Can anyone help me with a good excuse to get out of the 400m. If possible, can u explain what will happen to my muscles with the difference in training?

Well, the difference is 300m, of course (you knew that!).

Why do you need an excuse? Why not just say you're a sprinter, and 400m isn't really anything you're set for, and can they find someone else? You'd rather win the 100m sprint hands-down than do poorly trying to do both.

Otherwise, I guess it depends on you - do you think you can do 400m without crashing? I know it's nice to be chosen, but wouldn't you rather do well at one than mediocre at both? I think you already answered your own question. If nothing else, have them get another runner for 400m even if they can't do it. At least your team will have you do well in 100m even if 400m sucks, which is better than both being bad.

Failing that, try to do the 100m event first, so you do well. If you do okay at 400m, great. But if 400m comes first and it kills you for 100m... well, you know where I'm going.

first off, have you ever run a 400m in a race before? it is considerably different than the 100m and if you havent trained for a sprint like the 400 and have only done short stuff like the 100 then you might have a small problem just from inexperience of sprinting full speed for 50+ seconds(depeneding on what lvl you are at). In highschool i ran the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m, sometimes all at the same meet, but i was a utility man. i wasnt super amazing at any one event, but rather just good at all of them. if i were you i would start working on your form and running 300m intervals for practice and then prolly some 100m strides afterward. work on getting your knees up because if you dont get your knees up towards the end of the race you might trip up, ive done that and it sucks.

also know that for about the first 8 seconds of every race you dont get tired and thats when you should go your fasted and really get out of those blocks. maybe kinda stride the backstretch a lil(dont slow down too much! but just very slightly; not full speed, but about 90% or so), and then when the 200m mark comes up start kicking it in, by the 100m mark you should be full speed to the finish.
gotta get your form down so when you get tired you wont mess up.

I have known a lot of 100m runners that have made the transition to 400m in a matter of weeks and done fine, just remember that if you do good you'll probably have to run it again.

Hey if all else falls just do your best and try to have fun when you run.

hope that helps a just little bit.

peace,
CurtisC

all of them say prepare makes suited yet there are particular strageties that could advance your cases dramatically. a million. advance your staying power (incredibly effectual for the 4 hundred) with the help of working somewhat longer distance. Run a 600m 2 cases two times a week besides on your widely used work out. it is substantial which you attempt to run the 600m at your 400m p.c.., in any different case the staying power education is valueless. 2. advance your power (effectual for 2 hundred and four hundred) with the help of having speedier. in case you concentration on the two hundred, besides on your widely used work out, run the 100m 2-4 cases sprinting a pair of times a week. For the 4 hundred, run the 200m 2-4 cases sprinting a pair of times a week. 3. advance your kind (ALL races). This includes your start up, your turnovers, and your palms. On sprints it is taken into consideration necessary to start up off solid in view which you do not have any time for errors so prepare on the blocks as much as conceivable. Turnovers (the time it takes on your leg to bypass up and then come backtrack) could be shorter on the a hundred and a pair of hundred than the 4 hundred in view which you have extra speed. comprise your stride on the shorter races and stride out on the 4 hundred. And your palms could be approximately at your hips on the 4 hundred in assessment to the "grasping palms" that pull you on shorter races. solid success =] in case you positioned your strategies to it, you may get speedier in the present day .. in basic terms artwork confusing !!
