I have a friend, REALLY! She has a guy she's been with for 2 years on and off and she has a child. They have been living together on and off during this time. She always leaves him because he is not exactly her type, although she says she loves him because they have bee together so long. He is not abusive but controlling. They have had probs lately and have both explored other options. Today she told me all about this and asked me if they could make it work, although she till ahs feelings/ thinks about other guys and they are just not as financially stable as him. Also she does not know if her BF loves her more than anyone ever could or is just obsessed with her. He never leaves even if she tells him too he asks why she is being mean. I really am good at advice, but was at a loss with this one.... Can any one help me with this?

control freaks are abuse. dude. she knows she should leave and she has to put the needs of her child first. the state will help her leave him if she really wanted to. does she want her kid to grow up in this setting? chances are she will stay and her kid will get abused. some people just won't wise up. find new friends with some basic common sense to stay away from dramatics.

If one of the parties tries to control their partner too much, I don't think the relationship will work out well. I always believe that everyone should have their own freedom even though they are attached. can you imagine if someone always tell you to do this and do that when you don't really like. You will start to find him/her annoying and it is a matter of time before both of you fight. So advice your friend to think it over carefully before she made her move

Sounds like she isn't sure what she wants. It sounds as though she's comfortable and doesn't want to leave this guy at the risk of ending up with someone who isn't as well off financially, or as willing to put up with her indecisiveness. The fact is she needs to make her own decisions. Not making a decision is still making a decision. She knows in her heart of hearts what she wants to do. Sounds to me like she wants to have her cake and eat it too. She must be young.
