Quietly live a good and decent life without fan fare and help others without expecting reward. You do that because that gives you the greatest joy to do so.
A great man will not know he has done many good things to so many people. Many people do not realize the great people living around them. Normally they are taken for granted and overlooked. They never look to become great. They just look for ways to be greater neighbors or friends. A great man comes from inherent greatness that resides with in us all. And it is only when a circumstance comes out that each person's greatness will be seen and that will be a benefit to others.
A great man is seen in the movie "Mr.Holland's Opus" or "It's A Wonderful Life"

Ask yourself whom do you admire. Then go and look at the lives of those people. Being a great man/woman may mean different things. For some it is a strong leader, for other a creative artist, or a wise intellectual, or a valuable member in a community, etc.

“Greatness”--- I assume is conferment from a recognized group of people. You are not “great” over some deeds or accomplishments that came from your justification. However, there is no assurance, and always a doubt whether our effort has proper acknowledgement. Whatever the reason, we take pride in our work and no pretence for any recognition. Rightfully the notion has been that expertise or ingenuity in their encroachment is overly in every specialization. ----So where is the genius among the other geniuses. We should be grateful making ends meet instead.

Greatness can only be achieved when one seeks the truest core motivation in their heart, through knowledge of the self. Once one has issolated this single element that drives them, they can then follow their hearts true path. Greatness comes from following the true path of the heart, without deviation, and with complete devotion and dedication to who and what you truely are.
However, aside from greatness there are lots of way to become successful or famouse, but most successful and famouse people are not simultaniously great.

Greatness. What is it that measures a great man? wealth? sucess? notoriety?
I believe a great man is one who stays faithful to the upkeep of his family, has a deep spiritual devotion to GOD. very pratical and firmly rooted in the apparent truth. Most of all a great man is able to remain silent when the whole world seems to oppose him. Greatness is the wealth of wisdom within a mans mind, and compassion within his heart. What I consider to be the route a great man would travel would be rejected by the secularist.

Knowledge, skill and capability do not make one great.... greatness lies in the actions..... unless wisdom and unselfish compassion are the hallmark of actions, no one can become great!!
