My name is Matthew It's not white it's Hebrew.

Maybe it's that more common names seem familiar. The familiar name will subconsciously be associated with certain values.

For example
If a person had a few really good friends named George this person would probably think of somebody named George as a good guy.
If somebody was picked on a lot in school by somebody named Ralf they might associate this name with bullies.

Most of these associations are subconscious and are human nature.

An unfamiliar name will not be associated with known values and therefore will not be seen as equal to a name with an associated good value.


This article doesn't imply at all that white people are doing the discriminating. That part came solely from you.

Did you know that it is also racists to judge everyone in a group the same way. I am white (mostly) and I do not make fun of names. However you have to admit that some black people can come up with some strange names, especially for girls. Some of them are really pretty names though.

ok its not ok...its never ok to discrimnate under any condition...but would you really want to work for someone whos prejudiced against you? i know you have to stand up for your rights and evrything but knowing my boss hated me i wouldnt want work for him, and i wouldnt.

i'd be a god damned fool if i did, there are too many cool and amazing people in this world to simply not to talk to them, date them, hire them, because of race. not all white people are racists i know alot more people who are rascists to white people than actual white racsists. and its harder than you think for white people these days i walk into my old neighborhood and i get stares, racial slurrs, and i just dont feel safe.

Thats because (some not all) sara, joe, bob, bill, and mary, would rather; devour our foods, enjoy our music, knowledge themselves in our languages, engroup in our cultures; Than acknowlege the fact that they would lead very boring lives if it wasnt for the diversity that we bring; so they degrade our names, mock our wardrobes, laugh at our language skills, and sterotype when they see you working in a fast food restaurant; blind in failing to realize we are working right next to their kind.
